Why should you use test kits?

Why should you test your aquarium water?  The answer is simple.  Being an aquarist means that fish, and perhaps invertebrates, are in your care.  They depend on you to feed them and otherwise provide them with the best possible environment to ensure they are both happy and healthy.

To achieve this you'll need to create and maintain the ideal water conditions for the aquatic animals you keep.   Since you can't simply look at your aquarium water and tell what condition it is in, or what adjustments might be necessary, you'll need to test your water to determine that.

Aquarium Test Kits can tell you what the various water parameters are and whether each parameter is within the appropriate range.  Knowing this will allow you to control your water quality and ensure you provide your aquatic animals with the best possible environment.
